• Ever since the society came into existence (2015), it has become the only source or platform for all matters related sandalwood. As of today, 400 registered members and 1500+ non members who are all growers are part of the community. Its base member’s strength is showing increasing trend month after month, year after year.
  The society made immense efforts in getting the right and fair price compared to the old prices. Today sandalwood prices are fixed at Rs 9500 which is much better for farmers to sell the harvested wood. The society is making continuous ef forts for the benefits of sandalwood
  growers.

As there were nearly 16 classifications for the purpose of grading sandalwood which was quite old and farmers were getting affected due to their wood falling into several of these and thus loose the value. With the intervention of

• SWSI , this started to coming down to very few giving clear advantage to growers.
• Sandalwood Society of India developed different agro forestry models , sandalwood and other crops included. The purpose of this model is to help farmers get annualized revenue instead of waiting for Sandalwood harvesting.
  The society established sandalwood plantations for Quality seeds for the benefit of growers.
• The sandalwood society advises the farmers for better growth by way of providing scientific inputs.
  The sandalwood society is also providing quality seeds to farmers for the purpose of establishing nursery unit and continuously provides technical consulting advice to such nurseries to grow healthy saplings.
• The society has developed different and cost effective
• security models to protect grownup/matured plants from theft, unauthorized entry.This is to provide peace of mind to all the growers. These include advanced technologies like solar powered wireless surveillance system (thereby avoiding the need of power and internet), RFID chips installation on every tree which helps monitoring tree movements using GPS technology.
• The Society has been actively involved with Govt Agencies like Bankers , insurance companies , NABARD, Karnataka Forest department, KSDL etc. to ensure the providing farmers with necessary financial assistance to get the security protection.
• The Society also conducts onsite training programmes, provides free of cost consulting services and create awareness among interested farmers. This has become a motivational factor.
• The Society is conducting National Level Workshops and releases publications regularly to increase awareness among farming community.
• The society has helped R&D institutes in developing value added products like, pastes, creams, anti aging solutions from by products of sandalwood trees (seed , leaf).
